The crashed vertibird robot is a hostile Mister Handy unit from an Enclave vertibird that crashed near the town of Klamath.
Background[]
The robot's electronic brain is damaged and all of the lines it speaks come from various science fiction movies (e.g. "I'm sorry Dave." or "Gort! Klaatu Barada Nikto!").

Notes[]
- It is actually possible to repair the Mister Handy unit. It is unknown how the AI does not see you, but sometimes you can simply walk up to it and repair it. It no longer attacks you after you do so, and you do not hear the science fiction references.
Appearances[]
The crashed Vertibird robot appears only in Fallout 2.
Behind the scenes[]
- One of its lines, "Gort! Klaatu Barada Nikto!", is a reference to the 1953 film The Day the Earth Stood Still.
- Another of its lines, "I'm sorry Dave.", is a reference to "Hal", a computer from the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
- Also the robot will say "Number 5 is alive" referencing the movie Short Circuit.
